1. give away:  The generous king gives away all his gold to the villagers.
2. give in: My parents eventually gave in and let us go to the theme park.
3. give up: My brother has given up cycling since his accident.
4. give off: When they die, plants give off gases such as carbon dioxide.
5. hold on: “You’ll fall if you don’t hold on.”
6. hold up: The teacher held up her hand for silence.
7. hold against: “Since it was an accident, I don’t think he will hold it against you.”
8. set aside: He set aside some money each month to spend during the school holidays.
9. set off: We set off for our nature hike early in the morning.
10. set up: My relatives plan to set up a toy business.
